How to Grow Garlic

Prepare Location for Planting Garlic

Garlic prefers full sun and sandy, well-drained soil. If your soil is wet or drains poorly, consider building a raised bed to prevent moisture from getting trapped and rotting the garlic over the winter.

Give the garlic space

separate the heads of garlic into cloves and plant about 2 inches deep with the “pointy” end up.  You’ll need to plant garlic 4-6 inches apart, with rows spaced about 1 foot apart
